ON THE BOARDS
SUNSET PLAZA REMODEL & POOL
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
Project Type: Major remodel & new swimming pool
Project Size: 11,000 sqft
Architectural Style: French Chateau
Current Phase: Under Construction
THE PROJECT
Currently under construction, Sunset Plaza represents one of Los Angeles' most dramatic residential undertakings. Saadat Architects, in collaboration with Chad Waterhouse Design, was commissioned to lead a complete remodel of an 11,000 sq ft two-story residence perched above Sunset Boulevard — transforming it into a commanding French Château estate that commands one of the city's most breathtaking canyon panoramas.
The architecture is uncompromising in both style and ambition. The full two-story remodel embraces the grandeur of French Château design — steeped in classical detail, refined materiality, and a sense of permanence that anchors the home to its elevated setting. Every facade, interior volume, and transitional space is being reimagined from the ground up.
The crown jewel of the exterior program is a new swimming pool and spa that cantilevers boldly over the steep canyon hillside — a feat of engineering and design that places the water's edge directly against an open panoramic backdrop stretching across the Los Angeles basin. Few residential pools in the city will match its drama or its views.
Below the exterior deck, a new attached ADU and recreation room are integrated seamlessly into the hillside structure — maximizing the site's vertical potential while adding meaningful program to the estate.
